Sci-Fi Party Line #172 Arrow, Captain America 2, SHIELD, Metal Hurlant, News

captain4f-4-web

“I’m not a tremendous fan of bows and arrows as a weapon.”
– Carl (@robominister)

“They take a shirt off here and there but there’s other stuff happening in between.”
– Darrell (@thevoice123)

“He didn’t take his shirt off once!”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“You come to my house for FIVE minutes and my mama is dead!”
– Darrell (@thevoice123)

Cat berates Carl, rightfully so, for not watching Arrow while also cleverly getting both Carl and Darrell to discuss shirtless men. We have an in depth deliberation about Captain America 2: Winter Soldier (@10:15) and Agents of SHIELD (@1:18:33). We switch it up and close out the show with the latest science fiction news (@1:43:12) which includes a fair amount of talk about Syfy’s Metal Hurlant Chronicles considering we haven’t seen any of it yet.

Sci-Fi Party Line #169 #AfterDark Heroes Reborn, Ghostbusters, Cosmos, Farscape, Helix, Terminator: Genesis

heroes-reborn

“I BELIEVE IN HEROES REBORN!!!”
– Carl (@robominister)

“This is like you had this really nice boyfriend and he was nice to you for the first two years. Then he beat you, cut your leg off, and took you to a creepy carnival.”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“There were good things about Nemesis!”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“Does being legless negate make-up sex?”
-Eric (@BullittWHO)

“Out of the Sarengeti! RIDE THE ZEBRA!”
– Carl (@robominister)

Welcome to Sci-Fi Party Line After Dark. Carl is rocking the eye patch. Cat is rocking the bowling shoes. Eric is rocking the Jim Beam Maple.

Carl defends Heroes Reborn. Cat tries to bring sanity to the episode and explains to him why he is wrong; as usual. We discuss the passing GhostbustersHarold Ramis. You may be surprised at Carl’s reaction to the Matrix prequel news. Carl tries to sell us on a Matrix fan film; Kaydara. Cat is excited about an opportunity associated with Netflix’s Marvel The Defenders in NYC. Again, they both agree on their apprehension for CW’s iZombie. Carl is SUPER PUMPED about M. Night’s new micro-budget vampire film. Eric the Sad Hobo joins the episode live from a bar. After they update him on the conversation, all of them agree and are anticipating Cosmos: A Space Odyssey. They talk about the Being Human/ Almost Human cancellation confusion. Carl professes his love and disappointment in Jeri Ryan’s appearance on Helix. There is some awkward bar bathroom stall talk but Cat rescued the situation by talking about the new Farscape spin-off film. Cat is also concerned about Spider-Man fatigue with the Sony announcement that they want to release a Spider-Man movie every year including Venom & The Sinister 6. They bring up the racial controversy about the Fantastic Four casting but decided they didn’t care. The Gotham TV show is curious creation but the crew seems to adopt a wait-and-see attitude. They don’t care about Jessie Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor after the Ben Affleck Batman Man of Steel announcement. Transformers 4 with Marky Mark makes Carl look like a hypocrite for defending Heroes Reborn. Cat is thrilled about Terminator: Genesis, Carl is skeptical, and Eric is confused about what genesis means. They wrap up the episode with more Almost Human discussion.

24: Live Another Day.

Sci-Fi Party Line #162 Night of the Doctor, Gravity, Thor, Walking Dead, Feedback

thor_2_the_dark_world

“This is insane. This is totally insane.”
-Eric (@BullittWHO) watching ‘Night of the Doctor’

“What you get is a whole lot of wanking going on…”
-Eric (@BullittWHO)

“When I see blatantly ridiculous things as tears shooting off of someone’s face in Zero-G, I don’t let that bother me…”
-Carl (@robominister)

“Shirt off in the first seven minutes of the film!”
-Cat (@fancyfembot)

“I have no recollection of this money shot you’re talking about.”
-Eric (@BullittWHO)

“I do not want to like Thor films. Unfortunately, I really like this Thor film.”
-Carl (@robominister)

The band is back together for an epic THREE HOUR EPISODE! Today’s crew is Carl, Eric, and Cat. Today we discuss the BBC Doctor Who Webisode “Night of the Doctor”. Next, we talk about Gravity (@15:48) and get into a cool discussion about realistic space movies. I got those guys to stop blahblahing about space and WE WENT TO THOR! (@51:11). Cat takes a moment to rant about Christopher Eccleston and his BAD decision to not join the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. We talk The Walking Dead, Carol’s dark turn and resulting exit (@1:20:43). We also voices our concerns about Agents of SHIELD (@1:15:01). Eric compares it to Arrow. Cat is the only one excited about the new Robocop trailer (@2:14:48). Carl discusses his reaction to the pilot of The Tomorrow People. Later, Cat squees about the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer and there’s some Star Trek: First Contact confusion. Finally, we read some of the feedback we’ve received on Twitter and thank the listeners of the show. Cat hopes @stefanlashley is a good sport because there’s some clowning going on. Thank you @MarkCockram, @crisklages, @AstralAudio, @hal2814, @starsnrain07, @Bluezfan1987, @dougrapson, and @DwightWho.

At the end of the episode, listen to Eric watch ‘Night of the Doctor’ for the first time live! He was totally fangirling it up!

Sci-Fi Party Line #157 Defiance, Falling Skies, Under the Dome

defiance-syfy

“If someone put me on a desert island and said ‘Heeyyyy we hate you and we’re gonna give you two shows to watch Revolution or Falling Skies’. I’d watch Falling Skies and then I’d kill myself.”
-Cat (@fancyfembot)

“Well… You’re not wrong.”
-Carl (@robominister)

[[[[[[[[[[[[[ SPOILER ALERT ]]]]]]]]]]]]]

Today’s duo is Carl (@robominister) and Cat (@fancyfembot). We discuss Defiance, Revolution, (27:07) Falling Skies, Warehouse 13, Futurama (40:47), and Under the Dome (48:05). We also talk about upcoming shows such as Agents of SHIELD, The Tomorrow People, Arrow, and Sleepy Hollow (1:07:45). There is an epic live fangasm in response to Almost Human (1:25:24).

You should listen to this episode for the Almost Human preview alone; there were girly squeals and panting… and that was just Carl! He also had an epic preaching moment at the end. YOU MUST HEAR IT!
