Sci-Fi After Party #45a Dances with Na’vi

Welcome to the After Party! The Avatar discussion continues from where it left off in Sci-Fi Party Line #45. The crew remains intact and consists of Ryan (@Oddernod), Will (@LW_Will), Eric (@Bullitt33), and Cat (@fancyfembot).

This episode contains highly speculative fiction from Eywa told to us via the songs of Mo’at. Playing out the show is ‘Fell in Love with an Alien’ by The Kelly Family.

Dances with Wolves is a 1990 epic 2D film which tells the story of a Civil War era United States Army lieutenant who travels to the American frontier to found a military outpost, and his dealings/interrelationship with a group of Natives known as the Lakota.

by contrast…

Avatar is a 2009 epic 3D film which tells the story of a future era (2154) Marine veteran who travels to the Pandoran frontier to found a scientific outpost, and his dealings/interrelationship with a group of Na’vi known as the Omaticaya.

The events depicted in these movies are fictitious. Any similarity to any characters and/or situations portrayed in any other film is merely coincidental happenstance and as such warrant no further scrutiny.

Sci-Fi Party Line #44 The Tech of Avatar

Today we discuss the technology in James Cameron’s Avatar. We talk about everything from marines to mad scientists, mech suits to alien ships and ducted fans to chopper blades. We even compare unobtainium to Stargate‘s naquadah (a name we couldn’t figure out in the episode). There’s also talk of Star Trek vs. Avatar.

The crew is Phineas (@phineas_henshaw), Carl (@robotcast) and Cat (@fancyfembot).

This episode contains 10 ft tall SPOILERS with carbon fiber reinforced bones. The show closes out with audio from the ‘security briefing’ scene.

Sci-Fi Party Line #41.1 Minute Waters of Mars

Here is a 1 minute version of Sci-Fi Party Line #41 The Waters of Mars.

Recently, friend of the show: The Cyber Testicle Podcast put a call out for anyone to submit their own 1 minute reviews of Doctor Who: WoM and because it was too difficult for us to come up with something completely original this was the result.

As we don’t have a proper promo for our show yet, this is the next best thing to get the gist of what we do here on our program. Please use it as you see fit.

Cyber Testicle’s own (hilarious) 1 minute WoM review can be found here. Be warned: it contains explicit language.

This preview features contributions from: Amy (@AmyHirschman), Jeff (@The_BORG), Will (@LW_Will), Carl (@robotcast), Eric (@Bullitt33) and Cat (@fancyfembot).
