Sci-Fi Party Line #178 Dominion and Defiance

dominion-syfy-tv-show

“No, this is literally based on … Legion.”

“On IMDB, Legion had a 5.1 so you know you’re starting from some good, solid source material… that you can only go up from… with Legion as your core.”
– Carl (@robominister)

“He (Datak Tarr) was the recipient of the most awkward hand job that I have ever seen!”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“That didn’t look like a good time for anyone.”
– Carl (@robominister)

WHAT?!?
We are discussing a show as it currently airing?
What type of madness IS this?

This week’s crew is Cat and Carl and they discuss the first 3 episodes of Dominion and the first 3 episodes of the second season of Defiance (31:07). This episode is home to a great Cantankerous Carl Rant™ about how they drive on Defiance.

– Will (@LW_Will)

Two “timely” episodes in one week. THE END IS NIGH!
NO.
It’s just our Gozilla episode!

This week’s crew is Cat and Carl and sees the return of Will. Cat discusses how she was traumatized by Godzilla 1998. She also thinks Carl has treated Terra Nova fairly. Will is amused by Battle Colon Los Angeles; expect to see an animated series about it soon.

Sci-Fi Party Line #176 Grimm Wedding

“If I saw a lady with a cauldron on the street smoking out of a hat, that’s like every other day in Portland.”
– Stephanie (@stephbystereo)

“I am super-concerned with Renard’s pecs.”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“The skeleton key? Yeah, I’ve got a bone to pick with that.”
– Carl (@robominister)

Today we present our timely discussion about the #GrimmWedding and Monrosalie. Today’s crew is Carl, Stephanie, and Cat. Later in the show we talk about upcoming shows that Carl will be forcing Cat to watch some of which are Dominion, Ascension, The Strain, 12 Monkeys, and The Leftovers. Cat clearly still has Christopher Eccleston Doctor Who 50th anniversary abandonment issues. Carl and Stephanie insist that eating lobster in any form means you are on a date.

Sci-Fi Party Line #174 Grimm and Hannibal

Hannibal-nbc-scifipartyline

“She’s a little too Girl-With-the-Dragon-Tattoo but I kinda like her.”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“I’ve had a hard time accepting this Trubel because she truly seems like Scrappy Doo.”
– Stephanie (@stephbystereo)

“Costume Department of Grimm; Can we get Rosalie out of these weird, fringe coats that are like southwestern style ugly and hipster?”
– Stephanie (@stephbystereo)

It’s a girl show! Cat and Stephanie discuss Grimm and Hannibal (@42:34). They literally spend 30 minutes talking about Trubel’s name and how they hate it. There were fun jokes at the expense of C. Thomas Howell and his 80s filled CV on IMDB. Later in the show (@1:13:04), Cat fusses at Stephanie for not having watched the last 3 episodes of American Horror Story: Coven. For whatever reason Cat is pumped up about the new TV movie Rosemary’s Baby. Stephanie is excited about The Strain and Godzilla. Cat is excited about From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and sadly continues to defend The River and Terra Nova. They both vow to watch Orphan Black and Continuum.

Sci-Fi Party Line #173 A passionate goodbye to Almost Human

489557

“I would love to know what was over the other side of the wall.”
– Darrell (@thevoice123)

“After Firefly, why in the world would they do this again?”
– Carl (@robominister)

“The real question is after Firefly why were lured into watching?”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“Let me tell you- cave bear, exoskeleton, murder suit- that was awesome!”
– Stephanie (@stephbystereo)

The RoboMinister delivers a powerful eulogy for the Sci-Fi Party Line‘s most beloved show, Almost Human.

Today’s mourners are Darrell, Stephanie, Carl, and Cat. We discuss, in excruciating detail, why we are sad about the cancellation of Almost Human. Later in the episode we got into a debate about… something…

We have shawarma!

Almost Human‘ Season 2 Premiere: Karl Urban Threatening To Quit Television If Fox Series Isn’t Renewed? [VIDEO]

Carl’s Almost Human Eulogy

‘Chirren of the Church of Sci-Fi..

We’ve gathered together again today.
To say goodbye to another- who was- gone too soon!
It seemed as quickly as Almost Human had appeared- and become a part of our life’s- it was cruelly
Snatched- snatched from our collective hands..

The loss of a show is ALWAYS hard- but especially one so young YOUNG- so- full of potential..

They’d hardly taken the wrapped off of poor Dorian-

Rudy- had only left the lab once..

Our man Kennex- was it too much to ask for a little..
Doe-eyed Clone strange??..
He was a hard working man
We KNEW he was at full capacity..

Instead they chose to leave the fans again behind an impenetrable wall.
The fate of our friends lost forever- to the ether-net..
The ken-doll executives glare at us with their lifeless eyes.

Some of you may say Robominister- you’re not being fair and balanced,
I say don’t put your FAITH in the Deceiver!!
We’ve been down this path too many times before..

There was a time, as fans,
we- knew our Tru Calling..
we could count on Briscoe
we- walked the line- with Vansen and the Wildcards

But always under the fear of the Touch– of the MAN.T.I.S!

Curse their- sudden but inevitable betrayal..

WHY OH- Why did good Book have to die?
It was a sin to take away our WASH!
(Zoe I’m here for you- just look me up on the Cortex..)

Why are we doomed to this continual solitude?
Lone Gunmen in this Harsh Realm where
only the chronicles of Sarah Connor could be the Rock! – of our Alien Nation..

As Fans our days of trusting this network has COME TO A MIDDLE!!

We can only hold close to our hearts the likes of Tyson, and Ichabod, and Abbie
In the hopes that they’ll survive..
They’re a different denomination- but of a shared faith..

For those that continue to betray us, there’s
a very special level of hell- where they will find no Serenity..

Yes.. For us there will always be a better place-
our eyes set to the future
This is a fertile land and we will thrive..

For the rest of us there always a better place
There are others.

I believe there’s a place where they know a good show takes TIME to mature-
I believe there’s a place where a show is not judged by it’s share of the bear-
but by the content of it’s characters.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…

May the church say A-BRams!!

Abrams…

We switch it up and close out the show with the latest science fiction news (@1:43:12) which includes a fair amount of talk about Syfy’s Metal Hurlant Chronicles considering we haven’t seen any of it yet.

Sci-Fi Party Line #169 #AfterDark Heroes Reborn, Ghostbusters, Cosmos, Farscape, Helix, Terminator: Genesis

heroes-reborn

“I BELIEVE IN HEROES REBORN!!!”
– Carl (@robominister)

“This is like you had this really nice boyfriend and he was nice to you for the first two years. Then he beat you, cut your leg off, and took you to a creepy carnival.”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“There were good things about Nemesis!”
– Cat (@fancyfembot)

“Does being legless negate make-up sex?”
-Eric (@BullittWHO)

“Out of the Sarengeti! RIDE THE ZEBRA!”
– Carl (@robominister)

Welcome to Sci-Fi Party Line After Dark. Carl is rocking the eye patch. Cat is rocking the bowling shoes. Eric is rocking the Jim Beam Maple.

Carl defends Heroes Reborn. Cat tries to bring sanity to the episode and explains to him why he is wrong; as usual. We discuss the passing GhostbustersHarold Ramis. You may be surprised at Carl’s reaction to the Matrix prequel news. Carl tries to sell us on a Matrix fan film; Kaydara. Cat is excited about an opportunity associated with Netflix’s Marvel The Defenders in NYC. Again, they both agree on their apprehension for CW’s iZombie. Carl is SUPER PUMPED about M. Night’s new micro-budget vampire film. Eric the Sad Hobo joins the episode live from a bar. After they update him on the conversation, all of them agree and are anticipating Cosmos: A Space Odyssey. They talk about the Being Human/ Almost Human cancellation confusion. Carl professes his love and disappointment in Jeri Ryan’s appearance on Helix. There is some awkward bar bathroom stall talk but Cat rescued the situation by talking about the new Farscape spin-off film. Cat is also concerned about Spider-Man fatigue with the Sony announcement that they want to release a Spider-Man movie every year including Venom & The Sinister 6. They bring up the racial controversy about the Fantastic Four casting but decided they didn’t care. The Gotham TV show is curious creation but the crew seems to adopt a wait-and-see attitude. They don’t care about Jessie Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor after the Ben Affleck Batman Man of Steel announcement. Transformers 4 with Marky Mark makes Carl look like a hypocrite for defending Heroes Reborn. Cat is thrilled about Terminator: Genesis, Carl is skeptical, and Eric is confused about what genesis means. They wrap up the episode with more Almost Human discussion.

24: Live Another Day.
